My twin sister lives in Munich, Germany and her husband is creating a lot of distance in our relationship. It's enough that she lives 7k miles away. It's incredibly frustrating for me that she married a man who does not celebrate the special relationship that twins share. My fiancée thinks that twins are very special and he supports the time we spend talking to each other [almost every day], visiting with each other and he does not feel threatened if he doesn't hear the "news" first.

My sister is pregnant and due near the end of July. I bought tickets today to visit her [for the start of August] and he phoned me this morning to say that my visit was too soon, that they needed family time. He doesn't want her to learn the sex of the baby b/c he doesn't want her to share the news with me. He is generally angry that she shares so much with me. My sister would be alarmed and furious if she knew that he called me to tell me not to come. She's having a stressful pregnancy, so I don't want to add to her anxiety, but I have no idea how to manage the distance that he's creating. Any advice?

Why on earth did your sister marry someone who didn't support the twin relationship?? You definitely need to tell her at some point that he called to tell you not to come. He's going behind her back to keep her family away from her, and that is a textbook example of an abuser. Even if you weren't twins, what kind of husband would deny his wife her female kin during labor??

Your sister needs to know that he's doing that, and she needs to be encouraged to imagine a life without this asshole.
