Hi,

I am a grown twin, but I know that when my sister and I started first grade, the school wanted to separate us. We had different teachers and they really taught at different levels. (Note: we were both gifted students). She ended up getting special lessons to keep up with her skills, while I stayed with the rest of my class. After first grade they put us back together (in elementary school) and we both ended up getting great educations (she is a doctor and I am a chemist). But the ability of the teachers is one issue to think about when separating twins.

I have a twin sister and we have been in classes together and also separated. In my sophmore year of high school, both of us lived with my mother for the first half of the year, and then I moved to my dad's house in a new town and it was very hard being apart. In my old school and town, everyone knew us as "the twin girls" and that was sort of like my identity. Then when I moved, I was all by myself and had to start all over. Now she lives with me at my dad's (we graduated in 2001) and I am happy to have her here!
