I am 43 years old. When me and my twin were born, my sister didn't get enough air. Consequently, she was born blind, mentally retarded, and had convulsions on a daily basis. We kept her home until we were six years old. Because she needed around the clock care, my parents had to put her in a school in Boston. She had the mentalty level of a 3 month old baby. About 10 months ago, she got moved to a school in Monson, MA.
Now----here's the thing---On the morning of her death, I woke up and felt so uncomfortable--I was jumping out of my skin. I just started crying---I just couldn't stop. I started going over my life's failures and successes. I began wondering why I was here---for what purpose---was I living my life the way I should be. I just didn't know what to do with myself. These feelings lasted all day---into the night. THEN---THE PHONE RANG-----My Sister was in cardiac arrest at the hospital. I called the hospital to see what was happening---the Doctor told me that she was already gone. It was so hard--there she was--my other half---gone!! Oh my God! I then realized that she was trying to get a message to me--all day--I think--I don't know--can anyone help me on this?? I have had this empty, lonely feeling ever since the night of June 1st, Thank you

I am now 41 y.o. - my identical twin sister died 4/26/2002. That's the day my life ended. Recently I have been doing some research on books, etc. on the loss of a twin. One book I found with a chapter especially devoted to our unique loss is Entwined Lives. It is fairly new, and available at any library or bookstore. As your loss is more recent, I would suggest a grief & loss support group. I still cry constantly - I WANT MY BEAUTIFUL SISTER BACK!! I'm sorry to say the grief, at least in my case, hasn't eased up one bit. You really have all my empathy. I wish you well with the way in which you choose to deal with your tragic loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know people ask me all the time if I can feel my sister's pain or not. I've never felt that I could...but maybe it would take something like death to make me understand that deeper/physical connection. My condolences.

Thats so sad! Im sorry for your lost. My twin and I are close. We do everything together. In high School our friends use to call us the double-mint twins. We're now collge freshamn and 18 years old. I sure hope I never have to find out how life would be without Stacie.
