My oldest daughter, now 25, grew up knowing the unusucal details of her birth. I was in labor for 25 hours and was unable to deliver the normal way. When I was hooked up to the fetal monitor they told me that either they were hearing two fetal heart beats, or it was one heart beat and an echo, so they took me in for X-rays.

Once they took the X-rays, they said that either it was two babies, or it was one baby and a shadow. They just couldn't tell if I was having one baby or twins.

Finally, the doctor showed up, a stranger since my OB didn't do C-sections. It was an emergency C and both my daughter and I came very close to dying.

I didn't get to see my daughter for days. Finally my regular doctor came to see me and asked if I had seen my baby and I told him that I hadn't. He got very angry with the hospital staff and made sure that I got to see my baby.

I lost 30 pounds from childbirth and my baby was only 9 pounds. I thought this was very odd, but didn't give it another thought.

Just last weekend my daughter, now 25 years old told me about meeting a girl when she was about 7 or 8 years old. She told me that this little girl was an exact mirror image of herself. We were camping at the PTL Heritage Village at the time. She and the little girl stared at one another for a time and then started asking one another all the typical questions, "When is your birthday, where were you born and so on." At the time my daughter was convinced that this little girl was her twin sister. The little girls parents then showed up and whisked her quickly away. My daughter spent the rest of our time there trying to find this little girl again.

Now that my daughter is 25 she was more capable of expressing to me what happened on that camping trip. I asked her if the little girl she met looked EXACTLY like what she saw when she looked in the mirror and she told me that she did. She had the same color of hair and everything.

My question is this.

If I gave birth to twins all those many years ago and someone stole or sold my other baby because I was unconscious during the birth, how can I go about finding this other daughter? I don't have a lot of money, so I can't hire anyone to look for me.

Any ideas?

Cate
