Twins Towers Event
The first ever Twins Talent Double Vision talent contest was held at the Twin Towers in NYC on June 6th, 2001- The Gemini Month. It is an event we will cherish for our lives. There were hundreds of twins and multiples that attended ranging from newborns to 80 year old twins. The twins gathered from all over the US and internationally to participate in this event. It was a huge media event with camera crews from all over the world. There were TV pieces seen in Italy, Bali, Canada, the US and as far away as Australia. The acts ranged from singers to jugglers to dancers to comedians to much much more. All twins were welcome to participate either as performers or spectators to help launch this amazing landmark event. Throughout the years, the Twin Towers was known for the amazing acts and performances but until this event had never held an event celebrating its name "The Twin Towers". This was slated to be an annual event hosted by the Twin Towers to help promote Twin awareness, celebrate the only city named Twice "New York, New York" and promote the best view in New York at Top of the World. This spectacular twin event was held 1,377 feet above the ground level at the Top of the World, Twin Towers Observatories , in which all multiples were given free entrance, wonderful goodie bags, free lunch, an amazing view and an overall party atmosphere. For those non-twin guests from out of town that happened to be visiting for the day , they definitely received more than they bargained for-not only a great view but they also left feeling like they were Seeing Double. It is surreal for all of us that this landmark will now only remain a memory in our hearts.
The event was co-produced by Canaan Public Relations and identical twins Lisa and Debbie Ganz , the owners of Twins Talent, Twins Restaurant and the authors of the Book of Twins. Lisa and Debbie Ganz also hosted this fantastic event. The panel of judges ranged from the academy award nominated actress Sylvia Miles to the Director of Marketing for the Top of the World Observatories, Jurrian Veth(who is also a twin) to specially chosen twins, Linda and Laura Mellor. All of the acts were winners to us but only 3 performances would take home a prize. First prize was $1,377 -the height of the twin towers in feet. The three top winners participated in a satellite media tour. We will be choosing another location for this event , so please keep checking the site. We will also forwarding you the information in the next few months. Twins and Multiples ---Start Rehearsing...You can be on your way to stardom!! Next year, there will be even more prizes.
